The Revelation of Jesus Christ
Revelation is a book of visions containing wars and fantastical beasts. It was written to seven churches in western Turkey during the reign of the Roman Empire, warning them of the suffering of Christians from persecution, and God’s ultimate triumph and judgement at the end. It demonstrates the behind-the-scenes spiritual realities causing world powers and events which are seen. Ultimately, the book points beyond this physical world and the present, to see how what’s going on fits into God’s larger plan. Revelation is intended to comfort believers and encourage them in faithful obedience, not compromising to the world around them, as they wait for Christ’s full revealing as the victorious Lamb of God.
